About JSON
JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is the lingua franca of APIs and config files. It’s strict, though: keys and strings need double quotes, no trailing commas, and no comments. A single stray character breaks the whole document — which is why a validator that points to the exact spot saves so much time.
Format vs minify
Format (beautify) adds indentation and line breaks so a human can read it. Minify strips every needless space to make the smallest possible payload for sending over the wire. Both produce the same data.
